When I get the B-ultrasound report, I am most afraid of seeing the doctor frown and write comments such as "uneven echo" and "poor shape". I know all those words, but when they are connected together, it makes people's heartbeat race-is there something wrong with my body?
.This report is actually an assessment of the "internal soil" of your body. Doctors use professional "passwords" to record them, but today, we will work as decoders to translate these passwords into human words that everyone can understand.
1. Understand the report and start by understanding the "coordinate system"

Before looking at specific terms, we must establish a basic understanding: the description on B-ultrasound must be combined with your menstrual cycle.
,:B,.The same "endometrial thickness of 7mm" is excellent when menstruation is clean, but may not be enough before ovulation. The same "multiple small follicles in the ovary" is normal in the early stages of menstruation, but may be a sign of polycystic ovaries in the late stages of menstruation.
So, after receiving the report, the first thing to do is to confirm: on which day of your menstrual cycle was this examination conducted?
Deep cracking of two and eight high-frequency "code words"

1.
1. "Polycystic changes" of the ovary
Original words of B-ultrasound: There are ≥12 small follicles with a diameter of 2-9mm in one or both ovaries, arranged in a "wheel-like" pattern, and the ovarian volume may increase.
:“”,,.This is not equivalent to "polycystic ovary syndrome", it is just a B-ultrasound imaging feature. To diagnose the disease, you also need to combine the symptoms of irregular menstruation and high androgens.
2. Dominant follicle/mature follicle
Original words of B-ultrasound: A round anechoic area with full shape and clear boundaries can be seen in the ovary, with a diameter of 18-25 mm.
:,“”,,“”.This is the main force in ovulation and the hopeful star of pregnancy.
3. Dow cavity effusion/Pelvic effusion
Original words of B-ultrasound: A liquid dark area with a depth of less than 3 cm can be seen in the uterorectal fossa (Dow cavity).
:“”.Don't be afraid, physiological effusion (such as a small amount of effusion after ovulation and late menstruation) is like the "lubricating fluid" in the body and is normal. Only when the amount is large, persistent, or accompanied by abdominal pain should it be considered as pathological effusion such as inflammation.
4. uterine fibroids
Original words of B-ultrasound: hypoechoic mass was seen between the muscle walls/subserosa/submucosa with clear boundaries.
:“”.The key lies in its location and size: growing on the outer wall of the uterus (subserosa) usually has little impact; growing on the inner membrane (submucous membrane) is like a stone in the soil, which most affects pregnancy; growing in the muscles (between the muscle walls) depends on whether it compresses the inner membrane. Asymptomatic fibroids smaller than 5cm can often coexist peacefully.
5. Luteinized follicles (Luteinized unruptured follicles syndrome, LUFS)
Original words of B ultrasound: The dominant follicle persists or increases, with grid-like echoes appearing in it, but there is no sign of post-ovulation collapse.
:,“”,,“”.This is a "false ovulation". There is menstruation, but it is difficult to get pregnant. It is a common "invisible killer" of unexplained infertility.
6. "Separated" or "mixed mass" in the ovary
Original words of B-ultrasound: cystic solid/mixed echoes can be seen in the adnexal area, septa can be seen within, and blood flow signals can be reached.
:“”,,,,“”.This situation requires doctors to attach great importance to it, combine it with tests such as tumor markers to rule out tumor risks, and conduct regular and close follow-up.
7. Uneven echo of the myometrium
Original words of B-ultrasound: Echoes of the myometrium have become thicker and stronger, and are unevenly distributed.
The “walls” of the uterus are no longer uniform in texture. This may be due to scars from previous pregnancies or surgeries, or it could be a typical symptom of adenomyosis—meaning that the “seeds” of the endometrium have grown into the muscle layer. This condition is often accompanied by painful menstruation and increased menstrual flow.
8. adnexal cystic structure
Original words of B ultrasound: An anechoic sac with clear boundaries and thin walls is seen in the adnexus area.
:“”.The vast majority of them are physiological cysts (such as luteal cysts formed when follicles are not cleared), which usually disappear on their own after 2-3 menstrual cycles. Intervention is needed only if it persists, is too large, or is accompanied by inappropriate conditions.
3.: After receiving the report, take three steps to eliminate anxiety

Check the cycle: Immediately recall the number of menstrual cycle days corresponding to the examination date. Many "abnormalities" are normal physiological phenomena at a specific period of time.
Match the dates to the menstrual cycle: Immediately recall the number of days in the menstrual cycle corresponding to each date. Many “abnormalities” are actually normal physiological phenomena during certain periods.
:.Doctors will make judgments based on multiple indicators such as size, boundary, blood flow signals, and clinical symptoms. A "small cyst" with clear boundaries and no blood flow is very different from a "mass" with unclear boundaries and rich blood flow.
:.Write down the terms you don't understand and ask your doctor directly:
"Is this discovery normal when combined with my cycle?"
“?Do you need treatment?"
“?Under what circumstances do we need to be vigilant?"
B,.Those "code words" are not judgments, but navigation words that help you understand yourself and communicate effectively with your doctor. Knowing why, you can eliminate most of the unnecessary panic and walk more steadily and at ease on the road to pregnancy or health.
